Tuesday’s game against the Cavs saw a very familiar, if not friendly, face on the opposing team.
Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers came to the AAC on Tuesday night and brought with them former Maverick and fan favorite Shawn Marion. The Matrix. Trix. Former #0.
This was Marion’s first visit to the AAC, a place he called home for five years, since signing this year with the Cavaliers in hopes of playing for a contender and winning a second ring. Marion was a key player on the Mavs roster throughout his five years here, and was the starting forward during their championship run.
MFFLs hoping to get a glimpse of the Trix they remember – the athleticism, the style, the defensive and rebounding prowess- may have been disappointed. The Cavs power forward has been out of action since the end of February when he suffered a left hip strain. His return has not been announced.
Therefore, his only visit to the AAC this season was a sentimental one for the 36-year-old Marion, who won his first and only NBA title here in 2011. He has already said that this is his last NBA season – after 15 years.
Whether or not he played on Tuesday, it was great to witness the one and only Matrix back in the AAC; even if he is sitting on the other side. Welcome home, Trix.
