A Solid Win Against Denver Ends with a Whimper

“I think he got rolled up on his lower left leg. So we’ll see how he feels tomorrow.”

Jason Kidd when asked about Luka Doncic’ end of game injury.

Hopefully, an injury to Doncic will not be the key takeaway from a solid win over Denver Monday night in downtown Dallas. The Mavericks managed to snap Denver’s 5 game winning streak 111-101 behind yet another strong performance by Kristaps Porzingis.

Denver led Dallas in this contest for the majority of the game despite good performances by both Porzingis and Doncic. Once the rest of the Mavericks squad showed up in the fourth quarter there was no looking back though. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 13 of his 19 points in the 4th including a nicely contested 3 and a nasty dunk. Reggie Bullock and Dorian Finney-Smith started the fourth with back to back 3-pointers. Ntilikina did his job well and got under the skin of Denver’s JaMychal Green which led to a quick scuffle between the two teams. It was nice to see this team look a bit scrappy for a second. This Mavs team will need that kind of attitude going into a 4 game road trip against some quality opponents starting Wednesday in Phoenix.
