The NBA announced the starters for the 72nd NBA All-Star Game. Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Dončić was named as one of the starters for the third time in his young career, fourth overall.
It’s no surprise as Dončić is averaging a 33.8 points per game (.498 FG%), 9.1 rebounds per game, 8.6 assists per game and 1.5 steals per game.
Dončić won back-to-back Western Conference Player of the Week awards to end the 2022 calendar year (Dec. 19 to 25; Dec. 26 to Jan. 1), Dončić was also named the Western Conference Player of the Month for December 2022. It marked the third time in his career he received the honor (Nov 2019, Feb 2022). He averaged 35.1 points per game (.519 FG%), 9.3 assists per game, 8.5 rebounds per game and 1.6 steals per game in 15 games. Mavs went 11-4 in those games.
Dončić ties Rolando Blackman (4) for the second-most All-Star selections in franchise history. Dirk Nowitzki holds the franchise record for the most All-Star appearances (14). Dončić will also break a tie with Nowitzki (2) for the most All-Star starts in Mavericks history.
The All-Star game will take place at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 7:00pm CT on TNT.
