It’s All-Star Weekend, a time when we celebrate the best of the best in the NBA. Only a select few players are selected to share the court and forever carry with them the title of NBA All-Star.
There’s always a lot of talk about which players are snubbed from the All-Star Game each year. There are always more deserving players than All-Star roster spots available so someone is bound to get snubbed every year. Most of the time when people feel like a player was snubbed, they are able to make the roster another year.
Then there are those who are deserving but that other chance never comes. This article is dedicated to them, the best to never make it.

The Mavs are 16-6, 2nd in the Western Conference, 1st in the Southwestern Division, and have 4th best record in the NBA. Luka Doncic has been MVP caliber good, but I still think there is a lot of credit to go around for one of the hottest teams in the NBA. While Delon Wright has lost his starting job and is 8th on the team in minutes per game, his impact on both ends of the floor is a big reason why the Mavs are off to such a strong start to the 2019-2020 Season. Luka Doncic is off to a historic start to the 2019-2020 Season. You constantly hear his name brought up with legends of the game such as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson. While those guys are all great, I like to talk about Dirk Nowitzki. To get a historical context for Luka Doncic’s MVP caliber play, let’s compare his performance this year to the only MVP in Dallas Mavericks franchise history, Dirk Nowitzki.

As the Mavericks have been on a hot streak the last few games everyone has become enamored with the recent play of Tim Hardaway, Jr., and rightfully so. THJ is scorching hot from the field and he has helped an already good offense take another leap. Now all of the Mavs criticism has shifted to Dwight Powell and his slow start to the 2019-2020 Season. To get a better idea if this well earned criticism or just misplaced negativity, let’s do a deep dive into Dwight Powell and his role on the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas is crazy about their Mavericks this year, and for good reason. Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are two fundamental building blocks that can take the franchise to unforeseen heights. These two guys elevate this team and this city on a nightly basis and it would be an honor to have them represent Dallas in the 2020 All-Star game in Chicago on February 16th. On Saturday night the Dallas Mavericks hosted the defending NBA Champion Toronto Raptors at the American Airlines Center. The Mavs were attempting to bounce back from a disappointing week, losing 3 of the last 4 games including two losses to the lowly New York Knicks.
Last year the American Airlines center was a fortress for the Mavs, 24 of their 33 wins were at home in the 2018-2019 season. Coming into this game Dallas was 2-3 at home this season. Granted, 2 of those losses (Blazers, Lakers) I feel like the Mavs got robbed, but the record is what it is. Hopefully this 4 game home stand can right the ship and re-establish home court advantage for the Mavericks.

The Mavericks hosted a short handed 1-7 New York Knicks team at the American Airlines Center and let themselves be pushed around by a less talented squad all night. On a night when Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis played exceptional for a majority of the night, the Mavs extras were not able to provide much at in front of the home crowd.
