The future looks bright for the Dallas Mavericks. They have the Slovenian Sensation Luka Dončić who is swishing and dishing all over the NBA despite being a 19 year old rookie.  They have also traded for Kristaps Porzingis, the 7’3″ 23 year old do-it-all NBA All-Star and Tim Hardaway Jr, a 26 year old super athletic shooter and scorer.  Over the past few years the Mavericks have been able to find and develop quality young role players and defenders in Dorian Finney-Smith and Maxi Kleber.   On top of it all, the Mavericks will have a good chunk of free cap space this summer to try to add to the stable of talent.

Top 10 Free Agent Power Forwards

Top 10 potential free agent Power Forwards this summer for the Dallas Mavericks.

Power Forward is not the deepest or most talented free agent position group this season, not as many game changers up for grabs as in our free agent Center rankings.  Regardless, there is still some very good young talen and potentially some great value for the Mavs to use a portion of their $57 million available this summer if they look in the right places.  With no power forward on the roster beyond this season, depending on the Dwight Powell player option for $10 million, the Mavs will have to be in the mix for some of these guys.  Let’s take a look at some of the top candidates.

Will Luka Dončić Be an All-Star Reserve?

2019 NBA All-Star Starters were announced on Thursday and much to the dismay of Mavericks fans and Luka Dončić fans across the world, he was not selected.  However, the dream of sending our WonderBoy to the All-Star Game in Charlotte, NC on Feb. 17 is not dead.  Now that the Starters have been determined, it is now time to figure out the Reserves.

DSJ Trade Ideas: Suns and Magic

If the Dallas Mavericks insist on moving Dennis smith Jr, here are some potential trade ideas.

Dennis smith Jr did not participate in any of the Mavericks 3 games this week with what was said to be a back injury, but now it appears the Mavericks may have been holding him out to preserve him for a potential trade.  As Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Monday night, the Mavericks have been active in Dennis Smith Jr Trade talks, particularly with the Phoenix Suns and Orlando Magic, two teams in need of a point guard.

Luka All-Star 2019: Will Fan Voting Be Enough?

Luka Dončić is raking in the fan votes, but unfortunately that is only half the equation.

We are in the midst of All-Star voting season and all Mavericks fans and Luka Dončić fans are committed to sending the 19 year old Slovenian Sensation to the 2019 All-Star game in Charlotte, NC.  A few weeks into voting and a few weeks left to go, it is a good time to review how the All-Star starters voting works and see what kind of chance Luka Dončić has of joining the court with the worlds best ballers.  Remember, fan voting is just half of the equation, so what else does it take for this dream to become a reality?

Luka Magic in Minnesota

Recap of the Dallas Mavericks 119-115 win in Minnesota against the Timberwolves Friday night.

What a great way to start out the second half of the 2018-2019 NBA season.  Coming into this game with a record of 19-22 through the first 41 games of the season, the Mavs are not where they want to be, tied for 13th in the West.  Luka Dončić and company have shown promise of being a playoff team over their first 41 games, proving that they can compete with the best in the league, but turnovers and inconsistency have led to the sub .500 record.

Mavs Playoff Watch: Week 12 (1/2-1/8)

Week 12 standings, game recaps, Western Conference power rankings, and team stats summary.

The Mavericks are falling farther and farther back each week.  The team is in dire need of a serious turnaround if they are going to compete for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.  They have dropped 1.5 more games behind the Southwest Division leading Houston Rockets and another .5 game back from the 8 seed in the West.
