Dallas adds another knockdown shooter as it continues to reshape its roster around spacing and versatility.
The Dallas Mavericks have signed Tarik Biberović. The forward joined the Mavericks after the team acquired his NBA rights in a six-team trade earlier this week. Dallas acquired the rights to Biberović along with Santi Aldama from Memphis as part of the trade.
Dallas will pay $900,000 of the $2 million buyout according to league rules with the remaining being financed by Biberović. According to Marc Stein, the Mavericks will sign Biberović to a two-year, $6 million with a team option for the second year.
The 6’7” forward arrives in Dallas after spending the past eight seasons with Fenerbahçe in Turkey, where he established himself as one of Europe’s premier shooters. During his time with the club, Biberović knocked down 42.3% of his three-point attempts, connecting on 419 of 991 shots beyond the arc.
At 25 years old, Biberović also brings an impressive resume to the Mavericks. He helped Fenerbahçe capture four Turkish Super League titles (2022, 2024-26), five Turkish Cup championships (2019, 2020, 2024-26), and the 2025 EuroLeague title. His standout performance in the 2026 Turkish Cup earned him Final MVP honors.
Known as one of the best shooters in the world, Biberović adds additional to Dallas’ evolving roster. His ability to stretch defenses and experience competing in high-pressure international games could provide valuable minutes as the Mavericks continue reshaping their team. The Mavericks struggled to generate consistent production from beyond the arc last season, finishing 26th in the NBA in three-point percentage (34.4%) and 27th in the percentage of field-goal attempts coming from three (35.5%). Not only did Dallas shoot poorly from deep, but it also didn’t take enough threes to keep pace with the league’s top offenses.
The additions of Santi Aldama, Sergio De Larrea, Tarik Biberović, and Marcus Sasser should provide a much-needed shooting boost, while the return of Kyrie Irving alongside Max Christie and Klay Thompson gives Dallas significantly more perimeter shooting to improve the team’s weakness. This signing also gives the Mavs options with Thompson, they could look for a trade or potential buyout if they can’t find a trade partner to free up a roster spot, If the new additions translate as expected, the Mavericks could make a substantial jump as a three-point shooting team in the upcoming 2026-27 season.
