Jaden Hardy Signs Extension with Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks announced they have signed Jaden Hardy to a three-year extension. Shams Charania reports the deal is for $18 million.

The 22 year old begins his third season in the NBA and Mavs. Hardy averaged 7.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists through a career-high 73 games last season. He recorded three games with at least seven assists after failing to produce such a game his entire rookie season. On Jan. 5, 2024 against Portland, Hardy produced 19 points, a career-high nine rebounds and a career-high nine assists, one rebound and assist shy from his first career triple-double.

In his rookie season, Hardy notched 8.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists through 48 games. He recorded five 25-point games as a rookie, the second-most by a Maverick before turning 21 years old (Luka Dončić, 57) and the fifth-most by a Dallas rookie ever (Jay Vincent, 28; Dončić, 21; Jamal Mashburn, 20; Mark Aguirre, 8).

Hardy looks to cement his role this season as the third ball handler in the Mavericks rotation. Decision making was the biggest focus in his development during the offseason as he sets a goal to be one of the top players off the bench this season in the NBA.
